Position summary: 

In this position you are responsible for carrying out daily dishwashing and cleaning tasks using a checklist and looking at the whiteboard. Collaborating with the kitchen crew is mandatory and completing miscellaneous tasks during free or slow times. Dishwashers at Maurya’s are the heartbeat of the kitchen who build a strong foundation to create a successful career in the culinary industry.

Key Objectives:

1. Operating a commercial/industrial restaurant dishwasher and stocking the clean plates, cutleries and other utensils to appropriate places.
 

2. Cleaning cooking pots as large as 22 inches diameter and 13 inches in depth.
 

3. Maintains knowledge of company dishwashing checklists and manuals and follows them via ticking off what's done with dry erase markers.
 

4. Responsibly carrying out dishwashing in reasonable amounts of time. Is aware of top-priority dishes the chefs and servers will need and prioritizes what needs to be washed first.
 

5. Reporting any shortages in food/dishwashing stock to appropriate stakeholders.
 

6. Helping unload groceries. Following the stocking and refilling practices of groceries and products in the kitchen and refrigerators through proper labelling and storage practices.
 

7. Carrying out kitchen cleaning tasks for the end of the day and throughout your shift.
 

8. Cleaning the washroom and carrying out general cleaning and sanitizing.

9. Peeling onions and potatoes in free time or whenever your name is written beside the task on the large whiteboard
 

10. Following up and collaborating with the kitchen crew/management on pending tasks. As well as occasionally attending and providing input into staff meetings and participating in training, and educational sessions.
 

11. Completing miscellaneous tasks during free or slow time
 

12. Abide with enhanced covid-19 protocols, maintain personal hygiene, and adhere to food safe practices. Includes wearing a mask, hairnet, proper attire, scent-free etc as per business requirements.

    Education/experience:

  • A minimum experience of 1 - 2 years operating a commercial/industrial restaurant dishwasher is what we are looking for.

  • Has basic understanding of commercial kitchen operations.

  • Works effectively within a team and recognizes when to provide support to other kitchen team members.


    Physical Requirements:

  • Being able to work prolonged periods of working in a commercial kitchen environment, standing and walking for lengthening periods.

  • Can sustain without breaks only during the extreme busy peak hours.

  • Is physically capable of working in a fast-paced environment and safely lifts heavy loads around 22-25kg.

  • Is comfortable with repetitive work

  • Is comfortable in an environment with many rich smells from cooking with spices and sauces.

  • Going up and down stairs

Salary: $15.20 - $16.29 per hour
